I'm going to try to catalog curly hair styles here. First, though, I want to make some comments about curly hair accessories. Yes, there are rules to this too...
- Do not use rubber bands. They can cut and break your hair.
- Do not use any really narrow metal barettes as they can also cut or break your hair.
- Be very careful with braids, twists, and corn rows as you can create a condition called traction alopecia. If you braid your hair too tightly you can make it fall out and cause bald spots.
- Try not to use things that are heavily beaded or jewled as they can become tangled in your hair.
- Do try to use scrunchies, wide barettes, snap clips, long alligator clips.and other accessories that don't put too much stress on your hair.
- Try to use oversized accessories - larger barettes, jaw clamps, etc. as this will lessen the stress on your hair
